Oliver Takes the Today Show to Task

Hello Humans and My Furry Friends and Supporters,

Oliver here. It appears that my declaration of candidacy for Purrresident has not been taken seriously. I believe I laid out an excellent case in my presidential opinion piece of February 5th, 2016.  Imagine my shock and dismay when I read the article on the Today Show Pets and Animals online site where they presented my feline opponent and some canine opponent I’ve never even heard of as the sole furry contenders for the office.

OllieTimeMagHere’s a newsflash Today show, Oliver Twist Aurit is also in the race. I can only suppose that you have some sort of “ageist” issue with me. The feline opposition is six years old and the canine contender is 9 years old. I admit I am a kitten (7 months) but what I lack in years I make up in enthusiasm.

As it is clear that Today has not taken the time to read my platform ideas, I had my crack team of human research slaves, uh, assistants scratch out some information about my opponents.

Lucy Lou, the Border Collie
Now here’s a prime example of what’s wrong with paw-lo-tics today. She’s been in the mayor’s office of Rabbit Hash, KY for eight years. Can you spell, “canine crony capitalism”? Practiced and polished politicians entrenched in office can’t hold a stick to my youthful effervescence and enthusiasm.

I do not think that the fact that she won over her competition is necessarily anything to bark about, when you find out that ten dogs, one cat, one opossum, one jackass and one human being vied for the position.

And can we talk about her fashion sense (or lack thereof?). What’s with the baggy skirt? Seriously, doesn’t she have staff? Who would let her out of the house looking like that? (Oops, I was just reminded by my feline mentor Tucker that only cats have staff, dogs have owners.)

Limberbutt McCubbins the Feline
I discussed in de-tail my thoughts about candidate Limberbutt in my February blog but, can I just say, do you really want a president with the first name “Limberbutt”. How are we Americans going to feel when “President Limberbutt” is introduced to foreign dignitaries like the Queen of England? I think the sound of “President Oliver Twist Aurit” is much classier!

I would also like to point out that I am neither a Demo-cat or Republi-cat but a true blue

Limberbutt 2016

Limberbutt 2016

representative of the KittyCat Party, the party of less human intervention in our food choices, freedom for all household animals to choose where and when they want to sleep and the concept of servant-leadership (the humans are the servants and we provide the leadership). Although I initially ran as a Conserva-cat, I have grown and expanded my ideas although; I must say that Limberbutt’s stand on the legalization of catnip does come into alignment with the KittyCat party’s platform.

So Today show, I want to be clear that there is another cat-i-date in this race and I also want to state that as a pragmatic kitten who has less life experience than the other two cat-i-dates, I would be very willing to reach a paw across the aisle and discusTrumpCat2s a Vice-Presidential position. (And I have some high profile supporters!)

Your friend and KittyCat Party Cat-i-date

Pawsitively Honored

Hello All,
Many thanks to https://peanutfreemigrainemom.wordpress.com/ for nominating us for the Liebster Award.   The felines are otherwise engaged so they have asked their human assistant to do this posting.

The Liebster Award is a new-comer award given by bloggers to other bloggers.  It creates a great platform for new blogs to be discovered and build communications. The best thing about this award is that it creates a lot of encouragement and support within our blogging community.

The rules of the Liebster Award are as follows:

  • Thank your nominator.
  • Share the award on your blog.
  • Answer 10 questions asked to you.
  • Ask 10 questions to 10 new nominees (who have fewer than 300 followers).
  • Notify them via social media.

My responses to the 10 questions asked of me are:

  1. Why did you decide to start blogging?
I’ve been blogging for quite a while but when I discovered pet blogging, I never looked back (nor do I update my other blogs as often as I should because I enjoy writing this one so much)
  2. How did you decide on your blog name?
My blog is written from the point of view of my felines. I absolutely believe that if my cats could write (or speak) they would have some interesting and funny things to say. And I can assure you that even though they can’t speak or write, they “opine” on just about everything.
  3. What is your favorite blog post on your site?
It’s hard to say but The True Adventures of a Flying Kitten is a good choice. It has all the things a good story requires, drama, suspense, adventure and some heart stopping action.
  4. What is your best advice to anyone considering blogging?
Blog about what you love and blog often.
  5. What is your favorite blog to read (besides your own)?
Phew, that’s a hard one. As a member of the BlogPaws Influencer group I have so many to choose from. This week’s favorite is Stunning Keisha.  Keisha is a ghetto cat who shares her view of the world.
  6. How did you celebrate your last Birthday?
In my kayak on a lake, couldn’t invite our feline bloggers as they have issues with      water.
  7. Do you prefer winter, spring, summer or fall? Why?
Fall is my favorite time of the year. The colors are beautiful where I live and the feline bloggers and I enjoy sitting on the upstairs deck enjoying the fall weather.
  8. What is your favorite home cooked meal?
    Paleo Shepherds Pie
  9. If you could be any type of animal, which would be? Why?
A feline of course, because they are fabulous!
  10. What makes you smile?
    Watching our kittens play together.

Liebster

The new blogs I am nominating are:

These are the 10 questions I have for my nominees (notice the animal theme)

  1. Why did you decide to start blogging?
  2. How did you decide on your blog name?
  3. What is your favorite blog post on your site
  4. What one piece of advice would you give to other bloggers?
  5. What new blog have you discovered lately and why do you like it?
  6. What is the best thing about animal/pet blogging?
  7. Is your blog purely an act of love or does it also bring in income?
  8. Do you celebrate your pet’s birthday? Why (and how) or why not?
  9. What is the one thing you would do for your local rescue or shelter if you had unlimited funds?
  10. What is your fur child (children’s) favorite toy?

I hope you all participate, this is a wonderful way to meet new bloggers and get your blog out there!
Regards,
Anita,
the Human Lackey and servant to Five Fabulous Felines.

Alberto the Poster Boy

 Hello World,

Alberto here. Just wanted to let you know I was this Monday’s #MeowCrush  at Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food. #ChickenSoupPetFood

The other felines are a little miffed but I can’t help it if I’m handsome. It’s a burden being this attractive.

BlogPaws Or Bust

Hello Humans,

‘Spent the afternoon in wardrobe posing with the female human. Evidently there is a big conference where all the crazy cat writers and all the dingy dog writers get together to learn new stuff. My human and I entered a contest to win airline tickets and registration to go to this pawty in Phoenix, AZ.

We had to use one of four backdrops and be creative. Whatcha’ think? Purrsonally, I think I rocked the bandana!

Here’s hoping we are on the way to making those 14,456,646 paw strides from Idaho to Arizona!

Your Pal,

Al

Our Human Writes

Hello Humans and Felines,
AlOrdersBookAlberto here. ‘Just wanted to tell you that the book, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover’s Soul, My Very Good, Very Bad Cat is officially launched today. The enthusiasm of our feline tribe is more than just the fact that any time a new cat book comes out is time for celebration. We are purrrrrrticularily excited because our human’s story, “All My Children Wear Fur Coats” is included in the book.

She spent the day today at a Twitter launch party. Oliver and I were pretty excited about this and thought we’d see a bunch of feathered creatures but all the human did was sit at her computer and “tweet”. Man, humans are strange.

But we do approve of the fact that the publisher is giving royalties from this book to the American Humane Association and our human will be having several book signings and all her proceeds will be donated to worthy pet charities.Book

So grab a copy of the book and read about all the fabulous felines (especially us!)

A Feline Opines on the Presidential Race

Hello Humans,
Oliver here. Since I am still technically a kitten, there is much I have yet to experience and many questions I have to ask about the world around me.

I have been hearing the humans speak a lot about this thing called “politics” and something called “the Presidential election”.  My humans have told me they are conservative, free market, state sovereignty, transparent government loving folks so if my comments lean a bit to the right, you’ll know where I got my ideas.  .

I thought I would obtain some information from the older felines in the house so I went to Tucker and his sister Jasmine. Both are twelve years old and have a few of these “Presidential elections” under their belts.

Tucker

Unfortunately neither of them wanted to talk politics although I did get Tucker to say that if a candidate would guarantee a catio on every front porch, a home and food for every feral cat and a bird feeder in front of every window (kitty cable) he would definitely consider voting for that candidate.

Jasmine had no thoughts on the matter, turned her back to me, raised her tail and sashayed off.

Jasmine

Lily is three and has had no experience in these matters.

This left me to my own devices

(my brother Alberto is too young and he’s a silly goofball who never sits still enough to discuss anything seriously).  I purrrrused the internet and I found a strange phenomenon of humans dressing their cats to resemble one candidate in purrrrticular.  Although amusing, this did nothing to further my political education.

AlInSink_1

Alberto (Al)

And then, lo and behold, I found a CAT who is running for president. Now before I announce this furry cat-i-date’s name, I would like to go on record as saying that his name might be a bit of a marketing issue.

Limberbutt 2016

Limberbutt 2016

His name is Limberbutt McCubbins, the feline Democratic candidate for President.  When my humans saw me reading up on a Democratic candidate, they almost had a hissy fit but then they decided I should make up my own mind about my political leanings.  I read this cat-i-dates stand on the issues and there were a few I  was able to gave an enthusiastic paws up.

Cat-i-date Limberbutt’s passion for homeless cats is honorable and worthy of support. All the felines in my family were rescues and we appreciate anyone who wants to help cats have homes.

McCubbins states he has a kind heart, although I am wondering if his kind heart and compassion extend to all creatures (would he kill a helpless mouse, bird, gecko, etc. if he had the chance) or does his tolerance and compassion only extend only to certain species and breeds?

He believes in a tax code that is just for all. I would have to agree, after all, the less taxes the humans pay, the more money they have to spoil us with.  I would like to know more about his concept of fair taxes. Does he want to take kibble and treats from some cats he decides have too much and give it to other cats he thinks don’t have enough?  I might have a problem with that.

I can agree with cat-i-date LImberbutt’s desire for affordable veterinary care for all felines but before I jump on his bandwagon I’d like to know how he intends to make that happen.  There seems to be a distinct lack of specific plans here and even though I’m only a kitten I know that most humans have a limited amount of money to support us in the manner to which we are accustomed.

catsinspaceThe last portion of his platform has me a bit nervous.  Limberbutt is a staunch supporter of space exploration and believes we should see a return to cat space flights. Now if he wants to send humans into space, they can go all they want. Sending cats into space? Not on your life. Who would he choose to shoot into the outer limits…felines that didn’t agree with him or felines whose pawlitical stands he doesn’t like?  Nope, not supporting that.

I guess I understand why all the humans are in such a tiz about this political stuff. There sure is a lot to think about.

Maybe we should all (humans and felines) focus on what we can agree on and instead of hissing and spitting at each other, just have a sociable nose sniff and a little back and forth meowing. Or, maybe I should throw my hat into the ring….how does “Oliver Twist Aurit” for President sound?

The Art of Manipulation

Hello Fellow Felines,

Tucker here. ‘Just want to give you a hint about how easy it is to manipulate your humans. About a week ago my human uncle #MikeVesecky came to our house. He tossed his very expensive ski parka over my favorite chair. I immediately moved on top of the jacket and snuggled down into the amazing warmth. When Uncle Mike needed to retrieve his jacket to go home I gave him my saddest face. Uncle Mike was unmoved but the feline human noticed. So today, a big box arrived from #Macys.

Let me just say I’m enjoying my cozy down blanket from #Macys!

Catsies

  Hello Humans,

Al here. My human just showed me a video that may just be the most remarkable idea of 2016. One brilliant human just combined two of the internets favorite things, cats and selfies…Catsies .

Now I am a bit purrrrturbed that the aforementioned human didn’t bother to contact me to participate in the photo shoots, I mean, seriously folks, look at this face!

Ah well, purrhaps my moment of fame is still to come.
